  1. Commonly known as EV-DO or CDMA, 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (1xEV-DO) is a 3G technology add-on for CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) networks that allow for theoretical download speeds as fast as 2.4576Mbps.
Originally known as CDMA Evolution Data Only, EV-DO is generally regarded as standing for Evolution Data Optimized for what are likely marketing purposes. 1xEV-DV (Evolution Data Voice) is the technology that was originally destined to handle the future 3G voice and data needs of CDMA networks, but has failed to catch on in North America. Instead, 1xEV-DO Rev A has been developed, which allows for faster uplink speeds than the original EV-DO spec, which relies on the older, and much slower, 1xRTT system for uplink connections.
  2. A short-range wireless band commonly used in wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ZigBee. 2.4GHz has a relatively slow data throughput in comparison to other networks.
2.4GHz has a relatively slow data throughput in comparison to other networks. However, it is better suited for transmitting data over longer ranges and through walls and other solid objects. It is used by most wireless devices beyond laptops, phones and tablets.
  3. 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is a collaboration between groups of telecommunications associations. The initial scope of 3GPP was to make a globally applicable 3G mobile phone system specification based on evolved Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) specifications.
The initial scope of 3GPP was to make a globally applicable third-generation (3G) mobile phone system specification based on evolved Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) specifications within the scope of the International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 project of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
  4. 4G LTE is a 4G wireless communications standard developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) that's designed to provide up to 10x the speeds of 3G networks for mobile devices.
The ITI has taken ownership of 4G, bundling into a specification known as IMT-Advanced. The document calls for 4G technologies to deliver downlink speeds of 1Gbps when stationary and 100Mbps when mobile, roughly 500-fold and 250-fold increase over IMT-2000 respectively. Unfortunately, those specs are so aggressive that no commercialized standard currently meets them.
  5. A 51% attack is an attack on a blockchain by a group of miners who control more than 50% of the network's mining hash rate. Attackers with majority control of the network can interrupt the recording of new blocks by preventing other miners from completing blocks.
A 51% attack will allow the attackers to create a flawed block containing transactions that never happened. Such an attack can essentially be used to print new coins on to the particular Blockchain and add them to the attacks account/wallet.
  6. 5G
The fifth generation of mobile networks or 5th generation wireless systems denotes the next major phase of mobile telecommunications standards beyond the current 4G/IMT-Advanced standards, which has speeds beyond what the current 4G can offer.
In addition to providing simply faster speeds, it can be predicted that 5G networks also will need to meet the needs of new use cases, such as the Internet of Things as well as broadcast-like services and lifeline communication in times of natural disaster. Telecoms giant Huawei and Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo have demonstrated mobile internet speeds of 3.6Gbps in the world's first large-scale public network test of 5G. The field trial was conducted in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province, China, on 7 October 2015.
  7. License-free RF band commonly used for short-range applications such as thermostats, burglar alarms, and industrial uses. It is a part of the spectrum known as "UHF Bands IV and V."
  8. License-free RF band commonly used for short-range applications. 92 MHz low frequency allows for better penetration through walls and obstacles. However, it has a low data transfer rate.
