Feature New Record
DESCRIPTION
Industrial Internet Consortium members Hewlett-Packard and Real-Time Innovation have joined together on the Edge Intelligence Testbed. The primary objective of the Edge Intelligence Testbed is to significantly accelerate the development of edge architectures and algorithms by removing the barriers that many developers face: access to a wide variety of advanced compute hardware and software configurable to directly resemble state-of-the-art edge systems at very low cost to the tester/developer.
An important class of industrial IoT problems have many characteristics in common. These include: the need for autonomous but coordinated, adaptive decision making by many machines; Machines may be connected by low-bandwidth or unreliable networks; Algorithms running on the machine itself may require access to very large local data sets (eg machine learning or advanced analytics); Data sets may contain data also sensed from external, coordinating machines; The use of computing mixed between real-time control and scale-out analytics; Data stored in the machine may be a primary copy, queried or extracted flexibly; and Computation does not occur in a data center environment.
